Launch Party

April 23, 2011

The word is out. Everybody was notified and everybody is invited.

I joined forces with a number of friends to prepare for a  pleasant afternoon. Some wine, music, a little storytelling, socializing and entertainment will be part of the program.  But of course the glue of all this will be the people. All you have to do is show up.

Welcome to the Party – Slide Show

To register your attendance please use this link: Drink the Wild Air event

Enough said.  Looking forward to see you all.

I took the opportunity to participate at the 20th anniversary event at Scuderia West because I wanted to re-connect with my fellow motorcycle riders after having drifted away from that scene for so many years. To be exact the last time I was breathing and living the true biker vibe was in 1995. Right after I blew up the engine of my Kawasaki KLR 650 and shortly before I moved to Mexico City. Ever since life somehow let me drift further away and I finally had lost touch with the biker crowd altogether.

Yesterday I spoke to so many people of all age ranges with different levels of experience or with the burning desire to start either riding a bike or even racing, which reminded me very much of my own humble beginnings when my mind was set on motorcycles and nobody was able to do anything about it.

With all the information I’ve got yesterday in talking to people I will continue to re-connect even more. There is so much to discover and even though everything has changed in that scene nothing has changed at all. I felt good in this crowd immediately. No words have to be exchanged in order to be understood. In my “old” life I had moved on and have discovered many new exciting things, and now this felt like a homecoming. It was a nice and fuzzy feeling.

To continue with the journey, my book launch party on May 7 will be another stop where the past fuses with the present and will help to shape the future.

Newspaper,birds,motorcycles and a public event

April 11, 2011

Took me a bit longer this week to manage a post but now I can introduce two more things.

The first one is the article in the local newspaper Sunset Beacon. One morning I stepped out of the house and felt how I stepped on a paper laying on the floor. I looked down and saw I had stepped on my own face.. How awful! I quickly picked up the paper and cleaned it off and made it wrinkle free. I was impressed by the size of the picture. I brought it back to the kitchen and put it on the kitchen counter to read the article later when I had more time. But then there was the traditional flight hour and my bird Eddie landed on the kitchen counter and started to shred the paper. I caught it just in time, ripped it out of his beak and assessed the damage. The corner of the paper was missing and the paper looked somewhat frazzled. Now it was wrinkled again but my face (thank God)was still intact.  I took the paper and put it in a very safe place protected from all evil. Now I scanned it and attach the link so everyone can enjoy the article ( and the pictures) .

Secondly – I am getting ready to re-connect with the motorcycle crowd next Saturday at the dealership Scuderia West. I will be part of the open House event for their 20 years anniversary. This will be fun. Come on in, take a look at sports bikes, E- bikes, Moto Cross bikes,  accessories, the book ” To Drink the Wild Air”, eat a Cookie with me and talk shop.
